moduS ponY // Belmont Lacroix

Info-data:

A split cassette / digital EP from moduS ponY and Belmont Lacroix.

The foundation for moduS ponY's "Zehn Minuten" was a randomly generated string of piano melodies, sometimes tonal, sometimes atonal. Loops were extracted from the piano collage based on their tonal or rhythmic ambiguities, or simply how catchy or compelling they were. Along with other instrumentation and samples from a variety of sources, these loops served as parts of compositions, that were then sutured together into one ten minute arrangement.

moduS ponY is the solo moniker for the indie experimental musician and producer out of Hawthorne California, Matt Ackerman.moduS ponY straddles the line between intellectual and visceral, creating progressive pop music that is at once catchy, interesting, and a little weird.

Belmont Lacroix's "Don't Make Mistakes" and "Wolf Eats Moon" were recorded as upbeat pop songs about, respectively, authoritarianism and the apocalypse. The original backing instrumentation was then stripped out and replaced with more thematically appropriate supporting music and sounds.

Belmont Lacroix is a Leverkusen-based recording artist working the radical fringes of new-school volksschlager.
